Wellbeing Week at Cherry Tree Primary
About the Project
Cherry Tree Primary School, North Lincolnshire
£850
March 2025
Cherry Tree Primary wanted to create a week-long wellbeing programme to help pupils develop emotional awareness and build positive daily habits. The school applied to the Johnson & Mukherjee Brothers Charitable Trust for funding towards workshops, materials, and mindfulness activities.

Aims of the Project
The main goals of the project were to:
Encourage pupils to talk openly about feelings and how to manage them.
Support children’s mental and physical wellbeing through creative activities.
Equip staff with practical tools to integrate wellbeing into everyday learning.
What Happened
With support from the Trust, the school hosted a “Wellbeing Week” filled with yoga sessions, nature walks, and art therapy workshops. Every class took part in activities designed to build confidence, teamwork, and resilience.
220 pupils took part in wellbeing activities over 5 days
Teachers also attended a short training session led by a local wellbeing coach, helping them embed these principles across the curriculum.

Looking after our minds is just as important as looking after our bodies
Who Benefitted & How
The project involved all 220 pupils at the school and had an immediate impact on the atmosphere in classrooms.
Children reported feeling calmer and more confident when tackling challenges, and staff noticed improved concentration and kindness between pupils.
“Our children are learning that looking after their minds is just as important as looking after their bodies. The funding helped us make that lesson come alive.”
— Mrs. Patel, Deputy Headteacher
Looking Ahead
Following the success of the week, Cherry Tree Primary now runs a “Mindful Monday” activity every month, led by pupil wellbeing ambassadors. The school plans to apply again next year for a small grant to develop a wellbeing garden.
